We'll be providing policies for editing entries eventually, but until this is the case, please use the following rule of thumb when contributing: Ask yourself whether the content you are about to submit is helpful to clarify the topic at hand '''for others'''. In case the public editing option doesn't work well, we'll have to restrict access to authorized users only. Please bear this in mind when posting.

Consciousness is a very fascinating research topic and continues to attract increasing amounts of attention. While this is primarily a good thing, it inevitably also leads to some contributions which are more idiosyncratic. While we appreciate everyone's involvement in general, we have decided that this wiki is not intended to discuss rather idiosyncratic approaches in the scientific study of consciousness.

Here are a few general guidelines until we find the time to provide policies:

* If you want to summarize your research, please create a dedicated page on this wiki.

* You're invited to cross-link your research on other articles. But please avoid advertising your research on topics that are only indirectly connected.

* Always provide a brief summary when you make and edit of an existing page (the field below).

Welcome! This is an experiment, shared notepad on mathematical topics in the scientific study of consciousness.

Much like our idol, the nLab, this wiki offers a space for researchers to share notes, thoughts, definitions and ideas. It is dedicated primarily to formal/mathematical topics in the scientific study of consciousness, but topics from philosophy, neuroscience and other disciplines are welcome as well.

You're invited to contribute to this wiki. Before making a post, please read the policy description further below.

Goal

This wiki's overall goal is to catalyse exchange between researchers who are working on mathematical approaches in the scientific study of consciousness, and to help make good science possible. The hope is that it can be both a resource for information concerning formal approaches, but also a place where ideas can be exchanged. It's basically just a big community notebook.

Here are a few examples of the kind of posts that are very welcome:

  • Posts on concepts that are used in the scientific study of consciousness, which summarize parts of the literature, collect various conceptions or say something on how this is best formalized.
  • Posts which review the essential formal structure of existing theories of consciousness.
  • Posts which outline research projects that are being carried out.

On the long run, we hope this helps to establish a more unique convention on how to name things in mathematical research that is related to the scientific study of consciousness.

Dos and Don'ts

Consciousness is a highly fascinating phenomenon and the target of much activity, both in and outside of science. This wiki is dedicated to scientific projects only and furthermore has a focus on mathematical approaches.

We would like to encourage everyone with an account to contribute. Don't worry if some input is preliminary or tentative. This is a community project, and others might just pick things up where you have left them. If in doubt about whether to post something due to quality concerns, we recommend posting.

Here are a few general guidelines until we find the time to provide policies:

  • If you want to summarize your research, please create a dedicated page on this wiki.
  • You're invited to cross-link your research on other articles. But please avoid advertising your research on topics that are only indirectly connected.
  • Always provide a brief summary when you make and edit of an existing page (the field below).
